About Me

Born and raised in Gloucester, I now live and work as a letter carver in the beautiful market town of Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire.

My journey in stone began in 2013 with a three-year Diploma in Stonemasonry at The City of Bath College. This was followed by a place on The Prince's Foundation's prestigious Building Craft Apprenticeship Programme from 2016 to 2017 where I worked as a stonemason at York Minster, Lincoln Cathedral, Worcester Cathedral, Muncaster Castle and was part of a three-month build at King Charles' Dumfries House estate in East Ayrshire, Scotland. I then did a traditional four-year letter carving apprenticeship with master letter carver Fergus Wessel at his Stoneletters Studio from 2017 to 2021 and spent a further four years there working alongside him as his assistant.

I now have my own workshop in Chipping Norton, taking on commissions from all over the UK.

As a letter carver, you always begin from the bottom of a headstone, plaque or other bespoke commission and work your way up. This stops the carver from unwittingly rubbing out a drawn out inscription with their sleeves.
